In many parts of the world where women aren’t encouraged to pursue secondary school, steady support makes a world of difference. The longer a girl stays in school the better chance she has to earn a higher wage, marry later and educate her own children, giving her the power to end the cycle of illiteracy in one generation. That's why we pair each Girls' Education student with a local mentor, known as a social mobilizer. These courageous women become advisors and advocates for girls, helping them beat the odds and stay in school. We know it can be hard to imagine all those goes into such a critical role, so we’ve created this video to show you what it’s like to walk in the shoes of G.A. Pradeepa, a Sri Lanka-based social mobilizer.
